Welch's Harvest Classic - in memory of Bill Ransom
August 18th, 2007

Bill Ransom, a long time Welch's employee and avid bicyclist, passed away in the Spring of 1998. In his memory, Lake Country Bike is pleased to announce the Eigth Annual Welch's Harvest Classic. The Welch's Harvest Classic is a United States Cycling Federation sanctioned event that takes place in and around the village and rural roads of North East Pennsylvania and is hosted by the Presque Isle Cycling Club.

whcmap1.gif - 3643 BytesCourse: Circuit Race with laps around a 7 3/4 mile loop. There is one climb each lap with a fast descent followed by a sharp right hand turn. Roads will not be closed to traffic but intersections will be marshaled. The start and finish areas are off the loop!
Registration: Early entries should be postmarked by August 5th. Any entry postmarked after August 6 will be considered a day of race/late entry and will be subject to the increased fee. Day of race registration will take place at the Mercyhurst-North East Campus from 7:30 am to 8:45 am. USCF riders must sign the standard release form. Only pre-registered riders receive a free event T-shirt or Hat.
Prizes: A maximum of $1000 in prizes will be awarded. Citizens will be awarded trophy's. Distribution of prizes and trophies will be determined by the number of pre-registered riders.
Directions: Race starts at the Mercyhurst-North East Campus, route 89, downtown North East. From Interstate 90, exit at PA exit 41 (old exit 11), proceed north approximately 3 miles to the campus.
Results: Timing and results will be conducted by Runner's High and ChampionChip Timing. A $35 fee will be assessed for scoring chips that are not returned. Results will also be posted on this web site.
